La Altena distillery, headed by master distiller Carlos Camarena, has produced a stunning 100% agave Tequila in the form of Tapatio añejo. This handmade Tequila is truly authentic, being distilled to strength and bottled without any dilution to preserve the true spirit flavors. Tapatio is aged for approximately 18 months in ex-bourbon barrels and is produced at the La Alteña distillery in Jalisco, which has been owned by the Camarena family for generations. A joint project between Carlos Camarena and Marko Karakasevic of Charbay Winery & Distillery in Napa, this Tequila uses estate-grown blue agave that is roasted for four days and fermented with a proprietary yeast culture that dates back 75 years. After being double-distilled in copper pot stills, it is undiluted to maintain its natural flavors.
